In Science, we aim to encourage all children to explore and investigate the world around them. Children are taught about different aspects of Science, such as:
- Experimental and Investigative Science
- Life Processes and Living Things
- Materials and their Properties
- Physical Processes
Great emphasis is placed upon practical, first-hand experiences. Children are also given opportunities to develop key scientific skills such as predicting, measuring, recording, reporting and analysing their findings.
In the foundation stage children begin to develop an understanding of science through the broader area of ‘Understanding the world.’ The accurate use of scientific vocabulary is important when demonstrating scientific understanding. Each key stage has a science display that includes the key vocabulary for the unit.We use our school grounds to provide outdoor learning throughout the year.
