Our aim at Grindleton Primary School is to encourage and develop the physical literacy of all our children. Through exercise and sporting activities, we aim to improve pupils’ confidence, self-esteem and physical well-being.

PE is taught following the Lancashire PE scheme of work, which focuses on steps of progression within different aspects of the subject. We use our school grounds to provide opportunities to enhance PE lessons and to encourage physical activity throughout the day. We have installed a range of outdoor gym equipment, a Trim-trail, a climbing wall and playground game markings. In addition to this, the children have access to the village cricket and football pitches.

We provide children with a range of extra-curricular sports clubs throughout the year e.g. football, gymnastics, dance, yoga and cricket. We try to engage as many of our children as possible in being physically active.

Here are some of our children competing at the Lancashire School Games.
